The Global China 2049 Initiative aims to address these analysis gaps and provide an in-depth assessment of China’s ideas, approaches and investments to address global challenges and risks. While questions abound, evidence-based analysis remains elusive. How China views global risks, the response measures it favours and the values and criteria that underpin China’s approach to international development, humanitarian action, environmental action and conflict resolution have both significant policy and practical relevance. Where the West seeks to reinforce the existing establishment, China is creating new ones. Where the West sees risk, China often sees opportunity. China’s ambitions for a new era of influence, and global development initiatives such as “Belt & Road”, combined with a changing global risk landscape shaped by issues ranging from humanitarian crisis and demographic transition to cyber fragility and climate change, means numerous questions arise around what China’s emerging role in world affairs means in terms addressing complex global challenges and risks. However, under Xi Jinping China is heralding in a new era with stated ambitions to become a nation with ‘pioneering global influence’ by 2050. ![]() The role of China as a rising global power, an emerging consumer market and an investment opportunity has been widely discussed and documented amongst China watchers, investors and economists for decades. The achievement of these two centenary goals, written into the Chinese Communist Party’s constitution in 2012, will shape China’s long-term economic plans and inform the country’s approach to everything from geopolitical issues to climate change policies – and will ultimately underlie the CCP’s legitimacy as China’s governing party.

Higher scores often correlate with better retention. An eNPS gauges how likely an employee is to recommend your company to others as a good place to work. In addition to regular surveys, an Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) is another employee engagement metric to rely on. To gauge employee satisfaction, you should regularly survey employees to find out what they like and what needs to be improved. In fact, only 36% of employees report feeling engaged in their work and workplace. After all, if employees aren’t happy at your company, they will leave - especially Millennials and Gen Zers who prioritize work-life balance, mental health, and personal happiness over all. Employee SatisfactionĮmployee satisfaction is crucial. Related reading: The 5 Main Drivers of Employee Retention 3. You can calculate average length of employment by using this formula: Collective number of years worked / Number of employees = Average length of employment Capturing why is also crucial, so sending out employee surveys to invite feedback is a best practice. If your company’s average length of employment is low, auditing your employee experience can reveal where current staff is experiencing challenges. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training track this data annually, so it can be a good metric to use when comparing yourself to other companies in your industry. Surprisingly, over the last 40 years, the median length of employment for salaried workers was steady at five years, with that number varying slightly by age, race, and gender. Average Length of EmploymentĪnother employee engagement metric to study when looking to boost retention is tenure, also known as length of employment. If you know your company's turnover rates, you can dig deeper into gaps to better retain employees in the future. You can calculate turnover rate using this formula: Employee departures / Average of total employees x 100 = Turnover rate The ideal turnover rate is an average of 10% or less per year. It’s also important to note that some turnover can be okay (not all employees will be the best fit for a company and vice versa), so you don’t want to target your turnover rate at 0%. No matter the type of turnover, it’s important to note that a high percentage usually indicates underlying issues with employee satisfaction and engagement. Reviewing turnover by department or manager can help HR identify areas or people to invest its time and resources to benefit the organization. Turnover rate by department or manager: The percentage of employees who leave a specific department or managerial position. A high involuntary turnover rate could reflect issues with the screening and interviewing process, onboarding, manager-employee relationships, and more. Involuntary turnover: The percentage of employees who leave a company for reasons outside of their control or wishes. A high voluntary turnover rate could reflect issues with company culture, lack of growth opportunities, management styles, and more. Voluntary turnover rate: The percentage of employees who leave a company on their own accord. Some employers might also track this at a deeper level, including: Turnover rate is the percentage of employees who leave the company within a specific period - usually calculated annually. Here are five metrics for employee engagement that you should measure to help improve retention: 1. From there, it's important to regularly track and review key performance metrics to identify what's working, what's not, and where improvements should be made to strengthen retention initiatives. Another study found that when employees are engaged with their work, they’re more fulfilled and more motivated, ultimately leading to as much as 22% higher productivity.Įlevating the employee experience through strategies like learning and development, career pathing, mentoring, gigs, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are all ways companies can boost engagement. Why? Because engaged employees typically stay at their workplace longer and contribute to the organization more fully.Īccording to a Gallup poll, companies that had highly engaged workers outperformed their peers by 147% in earnings per share, on average. Tracking and analyzing employee engagement metrics is important for improving employee retention. ![]() ![]() ![]() The set of classical Lanna food is served on the low-set tray, atop short pillars, on which various shared dishes are presented. ![]() ![]() As He proclaims the kingdom, Jesus testifies to the disciples that He will suffer, die and rise on the third day. The central message of the proclamation of the Kingdom is the message of Lent: repent and believe in the Gospel for the Kingdom of God is at hand. If this mystery is hard to meditate upon, that’s just because there is so much to choose from. The Proclamation of the Kingdom offers a wide range of themes to meditate on: the healings, the miracles, the teaching of the Sermon on the Mount, the conflicts between Jesus and the Pharisees and Scribes, and the parables. For more about this exchange and especially Jesus’s use of the word “Woman” when responding to His mother, read this explanation. When he performs this miracle of changing water into wine, however, He begins His messianic mission, which is to suffer and die for us on the Cross, and then rise from the dead. Jesus’s first response to Mary’s request for a miracle is that His hour has not yet come. The Marriage Feast of Cana is the third manifestation or Epiphany of Jesus, along with the visit of the Magi and the Baptism. He withstands the temptations of the Devil and gives us our pattern for Lent. After Jesus is baptized, He goes into the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, fasting and praying. That title points to His death on the Cross on Good Friday. John the Baptist testifies to Him as the Lamb of God. The Baptism of Jesus is both an event for Christmas time and for Lent: it is part of Jesus’s Epiphany, or manifestation, as He is proclaimed the Father’s Beloved Son and St. Each of the Luminous Mysteries lends itself to a Lenten interpretation. John Paul II provided some guidance for meditation on each of these mysteries in his Apostolic Letter, noting that “we contemplate important aspects of the person of Christ as the definitive revelation of God” because “each of these mysteries is a revelation of the Kingdom now present in the very person of Jesus”.įor Lent this year, I decided to alternate between the Luminous Mysteries and the Sorrowful Mysteries, starting on Ash Wednesday with the Sorrowful. The five Luminous Mysteries are: 1) The Baptism of Jesus 2) The Marriage Feast of Cana 3) The Proclamation of the Kingdom 4) The Transfiguration 5) The Institution of the Eucharist. Some have resisted the option to use these mysteries for various reasons, some of which Pope John Paul anticipated in his letter: Mary, the Mother of God, is absent in all but one of the mysteries (the second) the addition of five more mysteries breaks the linkage between the 150 Aves and the 150 Psalms, and one of the mysteries is termed hard to meditate upon (the third). However, conventional PCR-AGE detected pathogen at the onset of disease symptoms with a detection limit of 10 pg of bacterial DNA. PCR-CE and qPCR were capable of diagnosing bacterial blight 6 to 10 days before symptom appearance, with detection limits of 100 fg and 10 fg of bacterial DNA respectively. PCR coupled with agarose gel electrophoresis (PCR-AGE), PCR coupled with capillary electrophoresis (PCR-CE) and real-time PCR (qPCR) were applied for the early and accurate diagnosis of bacterial blight in pomegranate. DNA-based disease diagnostics using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) are reliable, precise, accurate and quick. Symptoms based disease diagnostic methods are labor-intensive, time-consuming and may not detect disease on asymptomatic plants. Precise and early diagnosis of bacterial blight is crucial for active surveillance and effective management of the disease.
